21 Years. It went by in the blink of an eye. This

21 Years.

It went by in the blink of an eye. This is a story I could write an entire book about, but I can’t put into words the incredible gift the Air Force has given me…opportunity. When I joined the AF at 18, I had no idea where I’d go, who I’d become, but it was the only choice I had to take control of my future. It is a decision I look back on with no regrets, and with a heart full of gratitude. My journey blessed me with incredible leaders and peers. It blessed me with once in a lifetime opportunities to see and experience the world and it’s people. It has shaped every part of who I am. And it gave me an identity. Putting on this uniform for the last time today is emotional. This is all I have known for the last two decades of my life and now it’s time to be…just Crystal. I am so thankful for every person Ive met along the way and every person who supported me and stuck by me through these 21 years. For those leaders who invested in me and gave me the tools to make it this far, I hope I did not disappoint you. I hope I made my country proud. I hope I made my parents proud. I hope I made my family proud. I hope I made my children proud. The Air Force gave me everything, and I couldn’t honor it in a better way than celebrating and saying goodbye on the USAF’s 79th birthday. I sang the AF song for the last time today, the loudest and proudest I could. What a wild ride it’s been…but one I wouldn’t change for the world.
